Culinary Chicanery
For Weekly Game Jam 95, theme Bad Cooking.
Sick of not owning awards for culinary prowess, you've decided to change that.
Unfortunately, you're super bad at cooking. Like real bad.
Thankfully, you're not that bad at stealing magic artifacts, and so you're going to use this demon belt to your advantage! Watch your three cooking stations to make sure they're tended to, while casting a little bit of devious dark magic at the right time to mess up your opponent. Make sure to not get caught by the judge!
Step on the heads of other chefs as you make a name for yourself who isn't that great but is somehow better than everybody else in this competition???
Controls are entirely arrow keys and spacebar, and the (verbose) instructions are in-game.
Currently there is a bug that does not allow the game to reset back to the main menu cleanly, so that is removed. It's something I'm working on fixing and seem to be flummoxed by. Just reload the page if you'd like another stab at it.

Really interesting game, though the wall of text was pretty daunting. Nice pixel graphics & music.
It took me several tries to figure out how the panstation worked. I still don't really get the pot station. Since there's no animation for the pot station I can't really tell what I'm doing.
For the panstation I think you could probably put everything on one meter, or at least put them vertically stacked on each other so you can tell exactly where the right meter needs to be.
Hey, thanks! You're totally right about the instructions. I'm already pretty wordy, and that only gets worse at 5 in the morning, haha.
The pan's a good idea, it would be good to increase the readability more. The pot doesn't really come into play until higher difficulties when the rounds are longer, but essentially you just remove the lid and then hold the stir button to refill the meter, and then replace the lid. Unfortunately the pot is pretty big and covers up a lot of the animations, which I didn't really give myself enough time to address.
Thanks for the feedback though, I appreciate it!
